Hi everyone, I'm Marlies Wielaard from the Netherlands.
I've been drawing from an early age and combined my passions when I began to do portraits of the crew and passengers of the Titanic. I create all kinds of drawings, but portraits I love the most. For me, drawing is restful and I can put all my feelings into it. It's a big hobby of mine and I'm very happy that my work is getting more and more attention.
Like I said, I mainly draw portraits of the crew and passengers of the Titanic and this is my way to keep them alive. I try to make the drawings as vivid as possible and in a 3D style. My idea is that it should almost be possible to see them move.
The subjects of my drawings are never in the centre of the paper, because I think that makes them more lifelike and not static.
I have drawn First Officer Murdoch several times, because he is my inspiration and I'm a big fan of him. I'm constantly busy with new drawings, so the choice of prints will get larger over time.
For those who will buy my work, I want to thank you very much. It's a great honour for me and it means a lot.
