This is a genuine "Once in a Lifetime" opportunity to own the most prestigious china ever made for Olympic & Titanic and without doubt, every White Star Line collectors' 'Nirvana'.
There has been decades of debate about these cups & saucers and where they were used on the ships. Sadly, 'Spode Copeland' in England were bombed during WWII and their archives destroyed, so there is no way to certify their use on the 'Olympic Class' liners, but it is believed only 192 were made to be divided between Olympic & Titanic.
The most popular theory is that they were used for private dining in the exclusive Parlour Suites and one or two examples have been recovered from Titanic's wreck site.
However, a very small number were also presented to very special dignitaries at the launch of the two vessels and they were in a dark red, silk-lined box with gold lettering, 'Souvenir from White Star Line - RMS Olympic'.
Only two of these presentation pieces are known to have survived the passage of time and the other is in SeaCity Museum in Southampton, but sadly, the lettering has worn away, making this, the finest example in the world today...
The cup & saucer are in unmarked, 'as-new' condition and there is minor wear to the box, commensurate with its age.
This magnificent cup & saucer has been part of the 'White Star Memories' exhibition collection for almost a decade and has been displayed around the globe by the world's largest exhibition company, 'Imagine Exhibitions'.
It's current value is based upon an appraisal by the world's leading Titanic & White star Line auction company.
