Made of pitch pine, this section of decking is from RMS Olympic, sister ship to the ill-fated Titanic and is approx. 6.5" long.
After Olympic was dismantled in Jarrow, near Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1936, her fixtures & fittings were sold off in a 10-day auction and a large amount of this decking was purchased (along with panelling, doors & light fittings) and used in a paint factory in the North-East of England until 2004, when it closed down. The fittings were then stripped out and sold off once again.
This is a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of history and an appreciating asset.
