One of the most sought-after pieces of White Star Line china is the ultra-rare triple (or trefoil) dish, decorated in the 'Wisteria' pattern and originally, exclusively made for the Olympic & Titanic. One has even been recovered from the wreck site.
Originally manufactured in England and supplied by ‘Stonier & Co’ of Liverpool, these beautiful dishes were part of a dinner service commonly known as the ‘Wisteria’ pattern, and used exclusively in 1st class areas and dining rooms. Probably used to dispense relishes or ‘Petit Fours’ they were hand made and painted to the highest quality. As only a very small number have survived the passage of time, this incredibly rare item commands prices at auction way beyond the means of most collectors, so here is your opportunity to acquire one at a fraction of the cost.
In 2003, White Star Memories commissioned a renowned china manufacturer to faithfully reproduce 500 of these magnificent dishes (see last photo), hand-made by a ‘Wedgewood China’ craftsman here in England, they were exact in every detail to the original and packaged in a beautiful silk-lined box, accompanied by a numbered & signed Certificate of Authenticity, which matched the gold number on the base of the dish.
Even the replica dishes change hands today for around £250!
Left over were 6 blank dishes, kept in case of a fault being discovered in the pattern applied during manufacture and here they are offered for sale for the very first, and no doubt, last time! This dish will make a great conversation piece, as well as a lovely table centre. Celebrate the opulence and grandeur of a bygone era, the likes of which we shall probably never experience again and at a fraction of the cost of an original.
