Note: Recovered on August 25th 2007, dive six, by the Achilles rover at lat.49º 22.047' N, long. 10º 41.700' W by an ROV basket. Accession number 07/0039. A conservation/condition report and certificate of authenticity will accompany this piece. Provenance: May 2001, Premier Exhibitions, Inc. acquired ownership of the wreck of the Carpathia, which was sunk by German torpedoes during World War I off the coast of Ireland.
February 2007, RMS Titanic, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc., transferred those ownership rights to Seaventures ltd.; August 2007, by previous agreement with Seaventures ltd., Premier Exhibitions, Inc. conducted a scientific research and recovery expedition to the Carpathia, during which this object was recovered and subsequently conserved.
RMS Carpathia, Cunard Line, maiden voyage May 5th 1903; sunk July 15th 1918. Was best known as the ship that rescued 705 survivors from the shipwreck of RMS Titanic.
