This lovely White Star Line silver butter dish was made by 'Elkington & Co' in Birmingham in 1914 (date letter 'C'). These dishes to be used in the first class dining rooms on board White Star's trans-Atlantic vessels including RMS Olympic & Titanic.
Ice would be placed in the tray and then a liner placed over the top on which the butter was placed. Unfortunately, the liner is missing, but regularly appear in auctions/eBay, etc.
The dish is in very good condition with a clear White Star Line burgee etched on the side and the hallmarks on the base.
Offered at a real bargain price in lieu of the missing liner.
